The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party leader, Raila Odinga, has announced an interdenominational prayer service to pay tribute to those who lost their lives during the anti-government protests.

The prayer service will be held nationwide, with a major mass at De Paul Grounds in Karen on July 28.

In a heartfelt announcement, Raila Odinga, the leader of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party, has invited Kenyans to join an Interdenominational Requiem Mass to honor the victims who tragically lost their lives during the anti-government protests.

The mass will take place at De Paul Grounds in Karen, starting at 9 am. Raila Odinga emphasized that this solemn occasion is an opportunity to “pray for justice, healing, and a safer, conducive future for our nation.” He urged all Kenyans to “stand as one to remember and honor the fallen souls.”

In the statement, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party expressed grief over the loss of its supporters, stating that “most of its slain supporters were killed while fleeing violent scenes, while even more others after surrendering to the police.” The coalition highlighted that these victims were unarmed and suffered fatal injuries in delicate parts of their bodies. The prayer service aims to remember these patriots and bring comfort to their families.

In addition to the major mass at De Paul Grounds, similar prayer services will be conducted in chosen locations across the country on the same day.

The coalition made a heartfelt appeal to Kenyans to maintain peace during these prayers and to continue “lighting candles and laying flowers in respect and love for our slain and injured patriots.” The exercise is expected to continue throughout the weekend.
