Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha has confirmed the implementation of a 2.75% levy, set to be gazetted by the Ministry of Health on March 8, 2024, to support the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF).
Health CS Nakhumicha has assured effective utilization of funds and minimized pilferage, emphasizing the fund’s goal of achieving universal health coverage by operationalizing healthcare funding with contributions from all Kenyans, while ensuring government coverage for fees for economically disadvantaged citizens.
