- A Catholic priest, identified as Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku, has passed away after spending a night with his girlfriend at a hotel in Murang’a.
The priest was rushed to the hospital by his lover and hotel workers, but was pronounced dead upon arrival. Investigations are underway, including the analysis of the food and drinks consumed during their evening together.
In a tragic incident, a Catholic priest, Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku, aged 43, has died after spending a night with his girlfriend at a hotel in Murang’a. The priest, in charge of St. Peters Ruai, was pronounced dead on Saturday morning, July 8, shortly after being rushed to the hospital by his lover and hotel staff.
According to a police report, the couple had checked into the Monalisa Hotel Delview in Gatanga on Friday evening. However, the priest started feeling unwell the following morning. It’s reported that; “Then, this morning (Saturday) at around 0800hrs, the priest’s girlfriend notified the hotel management that the boyfriend was dizzy and getting unconscious so that they could rush him to the hospital. They then rushed him to Kenol hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.”
Further, Taifa Leo reports upon arrival at the hospital, the priest was found lifeless in his car, which had been used for transportation. Police officers called to the scene discovered the body in the back seat, partially covered with a hotel bedsheet, with foam oozing from the mouth and nose. The body has been transferred to Mater Hospital mortuary in Nairobi for further investigation and an autopsy.
As the investigation continues, authorities have taken the food and drinks consumed by the couple on their night out for analysis. The findings will contribute to understanding the circumstances surrounding the priest’s sudden death.
