Dutch striker Quincy Promes has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for stabbing his cousin. Promes was found guilty of attempted manslaughter.

Promes was accused of stabbing his cousin in the thigh with a kitchen knife during a fight at a family gathering in July 2020. The victim was hospitalized with serious injuries, but he survived.

Promes denied the charges, saying that he acted in self-defense. However, the jury found him guilty of attempted manslaughter.

Promes has said that he will appeal the verdict. He is currently on loan to FC Barcelona from Spartak Moscow.
